How It All Began ... We Didn't Plan On Having a Music Career

Carly and Martina's music career started with one song -- Make Me Happy.  In 2014, Carly and Martina wrote Make Me Happy one day after being bullied at school.  Later that summer, Carly and Martina enrolled in a songwriting camp at The Evanston School of Rock and all of the students liked Carly and Martina's song so they decided to record it at Delmark Records.  The sound engineer at Delmark Records liked the song so much that a few weeks later he offered Carly and Martina a one song record and video deal.

Soon after releasing Make Me Happy, Carly and Martina were interviewed on WGN 720 Radio with Brian Noonan, a nationwide radio show.  During that broadcast, a DJ of a college radio station and assistant teacher in Waukesha, WI heard the song and contacted Carly and Martina on social media asking if he could share the song with his sixth-grade students during their anti-bullying week. Carly and Martina agreed and quickly became friends with many of his sixth-grade students.  A few months later Carly and Martina were invited to North Shore Middle School in Hartland, WI to lead day-long break-out anti-bullying sessions for the entire sixth-grade.  CBS58  TV in Milwaukee and the local press covered the event: CBS 58 interview Carly and Martina  Carly and Martina created a Youtube video documenting the day: Carly and Martina Stand Up Against Bullying

Carly and Martina also appeared on FOX32 with Corey McPherrin to discuss their song Make Me Happy and their blossoming music career and were spotlighted by CommunityMatters.org, a nationwide anti-bullying prevention program.
The next year in February, Carly and Martina were invited to perform at Feinstein's 54 Below in both New York and San Francisco as part of the Broadway Against Bullying event benefiting NoBully.org. Carly and Martina At 54 Below for No Bully
